Call Me Crew, Storm, and Craigslist Rules

On Saturday I started my day with the leads of Half Empty for a rehearsal of a few scenes.  I think it was productive and I’m glad we could finally get together for it and get a feel for the energy we all bring to the project.  On the weekend after next we’re going to finally start rolling! I’m so excited to actually get moving on this.

I haven’t got the biggest role in the film, but the director has asked me if I would be a boom operator when I’m not actually acting.  I’m excited because it means I’ll be busy working on a movie almost every weekend for months.  (Not excited about the weekends part, but the working on a movie part!)

It’ll be fun to get to be on both sides of the camera, so to speak.  I’d love to learn what each crew member does on a set and how they do it. It would be really cool to be able to fill several of those “roles” now and then.  I’m looking forward to my new job, but most of all I’m looking forward to being Aimee in the movie.  I think she’s a great character and I hope that the camera is able to see what I think could be there with her.

Today I went to my first Seattle Storm game of the season.  Last year I think I went to every single home game, but this year I haven’t shown out until today.  It was kid day (my favorite), but it was a lot of fun. Tim Watkins went with me and we made an afternoon of it.

The score was neck and neck until the half when Lauren Jackson finally started showing some hustle (she looked hung over and disaffected for the first half).  The team pulled it together and by the fourth quarter we were on our way to victory.  Tanisha Wright, Camille Little, and Swin Cash really got it done in this game.  San Antonio didn’t have a prayer.  A few times I yelled “traitor” at Becky Hammon because she became a Russian citizen in 2008 just so she could play on their Olympic team against the US team that rejected her.  I think that’s kind of effed.  She’s a great player, but damn… what a turncoat.

Yesterday I made the craigslist purchase of the century: TWO electric scooters for $50 total.  They’re pretty wimpy, but they’re fun and they’re a step toward my dream Honda Metropolitan (I dream realistically).  Wave if you see Laurallani whipping past you at outrageous speeds up to 15mph.

i might be one of the few who didn’t mind supporting becky hammon. the fact she wasn’t invited to try out for the U.S. team wasn’t widely reported. or maybe because i’m just a big soviet softie.
