I can’t wait to see it.

I thought that stylistically it was quite brilliant and most of the performances were great.  It made sense to me when I found out that the director, David Russo, has an animation background because the style if the film is very manipulated and interesting.  There were some holes in the plot, but overall I enjoyed the storyline and gave myself over to the alternate reality it presented.  The director and a couple of the actors, Natasha Lyonne and Marshall Allman, went on stage for a panel after the screening.  I’m glad we went!

This morning we went to the 3 Minute Masterpiece screenings at the SIFF Cinema theater in Queen Anne. It was fun to watch our little movie on the big screen. The kid who won the competition was remarkable, his film was really interesting and funny and well done. I can’t wait until someone gives him a million dollars and says, “GO!”

It blows my mind how he can get away with such homophobic speech on a dance show.  Do you know the percentage of gay people in dance?  It’s crazy high, and the dancers who aren’t gay have almost all experimented with same-sex sex partners.  It’s a very orgy-like atmosphere that’s so focused on bodies and feeling good that most dancers don’t give a shit about gay vs. straight.

That said, those were some gay-ass outfits and no proper gay would have trotted those out on stage, so boo on them.  I honestly wasn’t offended at all by Mary or Sonja’s comments.  Theirs were actual critiques on the problems in the dance, but Nigel focused almost entirely on the appearance of two men dancing intimately.  GASP!  Oh brother, that man is out of touch.

So, we’re always speculating on Nigel’s sexuality.  He’s so fiercely heterosexual in his comments that it makes us think he protests too much, but whatever.  One thing’s for sure, he knows how to work a pole:

Courtney B. Vance (“Law & Order: Criminal Intent”) has booked a role in CBS Films’ “Crowley,” helmed by Tom Vaughan. Brendan Fraser, Harrison Ford and Keri Russell also star in the drama about parents searching for a cure for their children’s rare disease.

Vance next will be seen in “Hurricane Season.” He’s currently lensing ABC pilot “Flash Forward.”

Hopefully this trend will push the big networks up to Seattle and Vancouver, and maybe give me a chance to get in on the mix.

I know if I am serious about acting I should probably go to LA, like… last week, but until I get a little steam going I will continue to seek out opportunities here in the Northwest. I only wish the city of Seattle made itself a little more welcoming to studio business–I’m looking at YOU Mayor Greg Nickels. California’s new budget makes it economically sensible to go elsewhere to shoot. Vancouver, BC is especially alluring because of the currency exchange, says Cynthia Littleton.
